WEEPING WALLS CONTINUE TO DRAW BELIEVERS
Religious pictures and symbols adorn the walls where oil appears inside the Tannous residence. Picture by Natalie Spiteri.
A house with weeping walls believed to be signs from a boy who died recently or God himself?
I admit I was sceptical when I heard about the Tannous house, in Guildford, and after a visit last week, I still have my doubts.

But one thing has to be said: thousands of people do believe something miraculous is happening inside the room of Michael Tannous, the 17-year-old who was killed in a car accident last year, 200 metres from his home.
When photographer Natalie Spiteri and I arrived just before 10.30am, already 15 cars had parked nearby, the car's occupants lining up to take a look inside.
A huge photo of Mike Tannous covers the house's front window, in between poster-sized photos of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ.
Mike's father, George, said it wasn't unusual to have people lining up daily to get inside.
Chairs are lined up in rows in the driveway for those who wait to enter the house.
When they leave the house, many are wiping away tears.
"Last night we had maybe 3000 and the police had to shut the street,'' Mr Tannous said.
"They come here to pray, to see the walls, or to touch the oil to make them feel better.''
The walls in Mike's bedroom began seeping oil 40 days after he died, Mr Tannous said.
Ash, too, appears each day on the floor underneath pictures of Jesus and Mary.
Droplets of the oil can be seen behind the glass of framed photos of Michael and of Jesus.
The signs were from Mike, Mr Tannous said.
"I have never seen anything like this before. I heard things similar but didn't believe and now I do.''
Five people are allowed into the house at a time, to look inside Mike's bedroom.
The room is adorned with religious statues, rosary beads and drawings from Mike's schoolbooks some of which allude to his idea of the afterlife, some drawn only days before his death.
Mike Tannous wrote this piece of prose not long before his death. His father said oil spots had appeared on the paper too.
But it's the oil-stained walls that Muslims, Jews and Christians flock to see.
The oil covers two walls: long lines of droplets, some wet, some dry.
The initial "M'' has also appeared, and some say they've seen the face of Jesus on the ceiling of the room next door.
Mr Tannous said the house would remain open to those who wanted to visit, despite the constant interruptions to his family's life.
He said his three children occasionally got annoyed by the constant stream of visitors.
Despite my Catholic beliefs, I cannot convince myself 100 per cent to believe the "miracles'' within the house. But I'm not denying that something, possibly influenced by God, could be happening.
There could be another explanation if a scientist was to analyse what lies beneath the walls.
In the meantime, it is nice to believe that something miraculous could take place in a world full of sceptics and doubt.

ITS AMAZING.WHEN ME AND MY FAMILY WENT TO VISIT MIKES HOME I WAS VERY EMOTIONAL AND MY HUSBAND WAS SPEECHLESS.I TRULY BELIVE THAT THIS IS A GIFT FROM GOD.MIKE R.I.P.
About a year ago I experienced the same occurrence on a wall in the rear part of our house and has been coming out regularly ever since. I first saw four runs looking like tears of water coming down the wall, I initially washed it down and thought nothing much of it afterwards. Soon, after it re-occurred time & time again, bringing me to paint over it. Three coats of paint and numerous wipe downs later, it still continues to come out. It has no smell but has a very light oily feel to it and has left permanent oil trails on the wall.
GO FIGURE.
Regards,
A Believer
R.I.P Mike Tannous, you are an angel in my eyes. The day I heard about this miracle, I started to believe that there is life after death after reading Mike's short poem he had written.
He is a great inspiration to all us teenagers & his name will always be spoken of and remembered.
Love always,
Sandra & Leda :)
