'Coronation Street' star William Roache believes he has "psychic powers".

The actor, who has played the soap's stalwart Ken Barlow since 1960, told Britain's Inside Soap magazine: "Everybody has latent psychic powers. I find that idea much more exciting than any fiction."

Roache, 73, has held an interest in the paranormal ever since childhood, when his grandfather gave him lessons on the spiritual world.

His fondness for spirits of the ghostly kind reportedly allowed him the unique experiences of seeing a grey ghost while on the toilet, and a light-blue Buddha hovering over his bed.

The soap veteran has, though, denied suggestions that he belongs to the British Druid Order.

His psychic leanings are just one of many endeavours which fly in the face of the The Sun's famous claim in 1992 that he was as boring as his TV

persona- which ended with Roache receiving £50,000 in damages.

As well as appearing as Perry Como in 'Stars In Their Eyes' he released a rap version of sixties hit 'Je T'aime...Moi Non Plus' in 1999, and once admitted to having filmed scenes whilst wearing women's underwear beneath his trousers.
