UK PARANORMAL SHOP IS FOR EVERYONE
An insight into the supernatural is what one palm reader will be offering when her new age shop opens in Ewell Village next month.
Palm reading, tarot and clairvoyance are some of the practises that Carolina Starre, 41, is hoping will be a hit with customers.
Ms Starre, who previously worked as a sales manager, has been reading palms for 10 years.
She said: "I got into palm reading after I had my own palms read and was so taken by the experience I had to get involved.
"I followed an Indian form but there are many different types.
"I used to practise by reading all my work colleagues' palms.
"I gave sales up to fulfil my real purpose I suppose."
The shop, whose motto will be Enlightenment for Everyone, will employ a variety of spiritualists, including clairvoyant Val Hood who has featured on Living TV's Most Haunted programme.
When asked why supernatural treatments are popular, Ms Starre said: "People want to believe there's something more to life.
"They are looking for guidance and reassurance.
"New age techniques can really give comfort to people when someone close has passed away.
"It has recently been said that the psychic paranormal is the new rock and roll.
"Lots of people claim that it's the younger generation who have taken it on board but I think people of all ages are interested," Ms Starre said.
Quirky items, such as fairy ornaments, dinosaur and fossil replicas and "dream catchers" will be available for younger customers.
But Ms Starre believed her best customers will be mothers.
"Mums don't have enough me' time," she said.
The shop - a converted 19th century cottage - will also offer yoga classes, mediumship and massage courses shortly after its opening, on June 21, 2007.
