CINCINNATI IS ALIVE WITH GHOSTS

Remember as kids, sitting under a blanket and trying to scare each other by telling ghost stories?

Well, you're about to meet a group of adults who will tell you -- those weren't just stories.

There are places around Cincinnati that come alive after dark.

"Probably since the start of third grade, I had this real, peaked interest in the paranormal," says Mike Palmer.

An interest that has led Mike and his team of investigators to the old Madison Theater in downtown Covington, hopefully to solve some strange encounters in the century-old building.

"This is camera 1, camera 2, camera 3."

"Male employees have claimed they've gone upstairs and claim to see the figure of a woman up there," said Nathan Wells, co-founder of PINK.

Paranormal Investigators of Northern Kentucky (PINK) formed two years ago, intent on exploring the haunted side of Greater Cincinnati.

"There are a lot of local stories, there are a lot of local 'hot spots' that I don't think any groups really been into," said Mike, who's the founder of PINK.

"It's a very historical district," said Nathan. "There's lots of old regions, old buildings around the area."

"We're ready to start."

This is the group's second trip to the Madison Theater, looking for something -- or someone -- that is causing strange things to happen.

"Part of the problem, they say they have, is the marquee lights come on by themselves sometimes," said Mike.

"I'm a big skeptic," said Mike. "I want to find every rational explanation possible. I won't be satisfied until I can put that stamp on it that says, 'we can't explain this'."

Sometimes finding an explanation means exploring a basement that most people wouldn't wander into with lights on -- or climbing into a tunnel when you can't see the end.

"We don't want to leave any bases uncovered," said Mike.

Armed with cameras, audio recorders and magnetic field indicators, every inch of the old theater is explored.

"Does our presence here bother you?"

And asking questions might get you a response you didn't expect.

"Oh my God...did you see it?" "Yeah it went that way."

"A figure shape shadow ran from one end of the bar to the other," said Mike.

Too quick for anyone to take a picture, leaving the team with a lot more questions, but also a determination to find the answers.

"I want to prove that it's there," said Mike. "It could come up and wave at me. and if I wasn't able to prove that it waved at me, I would still go after it."

"Nobody, that we know of, has found any substantial proof or evidence of the paranormal," said Nathan, "but, there are thousands and thousands of people with personal experiences, their own stories."

The Madison Theater is not alone when it comes to paranormal activity.

There are many locations around Greater Cincinnati that are also reported to be haunted.

Quote of the Day

Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another.
