SUPERNATURAL TREE
Kumhiya (Kushinagar): Misconceptions still play a significant role in the life of different strata of society.
The biggest example can be seen in Kumhiya village in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar District.
According to the villagers, there exists a supernatural power in a tree, which emancipates people from spirits and incurable diseases.
The vision, they say, takes place twice a week, on every Monday and Friday.
People who suffer, play and cling around the tree in the hope of a cure.
"People come here for their treatment. They tie chamfer and incense sticks to the tree. They play for sometime and then sit silently. They carry holy ash in their hands and put it on their head. It gives them a relief. And when the disease is cured, the worship starts," claimed Rampreet, a priest.
Prabha Devi, a patient said: "I have benefited a lot. Earlier, my entire body was suffering from disease. But now, it has given me relief. I have a great faith in it (the tree)."
