THE MOST HAUNTED VILLAGE IN ENGLAND

Prestbury village is famous for being packed with ghouls and ghosts and has been dubbed the most haunted village in England - but is it true?Such is the rich history of the village that tour groups have even been set up to cater for inquisitive tourists who believe in the supernatural.

More than 20 spirits are said to haunt the streets, with perhaps the most famous being the Black Abbot, occasionally spotted in the church, churchyard and other area including the High Street and The Priory.

Several photographers claim to have snapped these ghostly images wandering the streets.

But surely if the tranquil setting was stuffed full of spooks the locals would have seen them from time to time - wouldn't they?

One of the best people to ask is retired building society worker Tudor Williams, 81, who has been part of village life for 47 years.

"To be honest I have never seen a ghost myself in all that time but very sensible people have said they have," he said.

"One lady told me she was walking to see her mother and when she passed the window there was somebody sitting on the sofa but when she went inside her mum said nobody else was there."
