WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE?

No one really knows - though there are some who say they do. Especially those who have actually been declared to be dead then later have been revived, of whose experiences we have several very personal stories in both of our books as well as in our files and archives. Even then, these are mostly all anecdotal, thus not necessarily “real” in terms of scientific so-called reality - which itself is something that can also be difficult to define adequately.

Then there are the Churches and many religions, almost all of which claim that there is indeed such a thing as the afterlife and thus life after death.

We ourselves do not know and do not pretend to know, nor will we try to prove anything. Our only function is to tell stories of the kind that we do in our books as well as here on our website.

Thus we reiterate that these are not religious books of any kind, nor are we seeking to start some kind of cult. All we will do is tell stories, mostly other people’s but also some of our own, purely for the purpose of entertaining as well as informing all who wish to know more about such subjects, which we ourselves find to be so fascinating. Because, after all is said and done, we will all die one day, and whilst we’re alive it may be well worthwhile asking as well as wondering about this subject, which until relatively recently has been mostly taboo, at least in our Western, Judeo-Christian culture.

Thus we will start by attempting to answer the question

WHAT IS DEATH?

In our first book, Death - The Ultimate Orgasm?, we answered that question in these words: "Defining death used to be simple, but not any more. The opposite of life is one way of putting it. Today, however, there is a need to define exactly what life is. Due to recent progress and discoveries in science and so many other fields, the boundaries between life and death have become blurred. What with organ transplants, cloning, cryogenics, nanotechnology and computerisation, anyone trying to define either life or death has a difficult task. For the purpose of this book we will use the oldest definition of death as being the absence of any of the normal signs of life: no pulse, no heartbeat, no brainwaves, and thus no signs of any physical or mental activity."

That was first published in 2003, but since then there have been so many statements and ideas about the meaning of death that it would take almost another complete book to contain them - and even then there will still be unanswered questions. However, for the time being, on this website, we’ll stick to the statements above.
