The Canadian Gold Coin Maple Leaf - A Nearly Pure Investment
The Canadian Gold Coin Maple Leaf is one of the purest available forms of gold in the world today. Minted at a purity of 99.99%, these coins are made using gold sourced only from Canadian mines. While the Canadian Gold Coin Maple Leaf was introduced in the year 1972, it has gained in popularity over the years and is nowadays collected by many because of its value as collector's editions and as a means of investment.
The .9999 fine purity of the Canadian Gold Coin Maple Leaf is guaranteed by the government of Canada, which is the sole agency producing these coins. The coins are valued based mainly upon the value if the gold contained in them and are generally available in denominations of 1⁄20 oz, 1⁄10 oz, 1⁄4 oz, 1⁄2 oz, and 1 oz carrying values of $1, $5, $10, $20 and $50 respectively. Although the coin is not in common circulation, the Canadian Gold Coin Maple Leaf also has legal tender status in Canada.
Apart from these, there have been various collectors' editions that have also been introduced from time to time. The $2 face value coin introduced and produced only in the year 1994 now has special significance for collectors. Apart from this, numismatics also collect the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games Gold Maple, which has been introduced in many designs.
However, the most popular Canadian Gold Coin Maple Leaf ever to be minted was the One Million Dollar Coin. Introduced as a promotional measure to increase the visibility of the Canadian Gold Coin Maple Leaf in the international market in 2007, the One Million Dollar Coin was created using 100 kilograms of 99.999 % pure gold. While the Royal Canadian Mint had introduced it as a one off, orders for the same led to the coin being made on custom orders and being sold for a value of $2.5 million to $3 million.
The Canadian Gold Coin Maple Leaf can be bought and used by all those who believe in investing in gold. Since the Canadian Gold Coin Maple Leaf also has a collector's value, it retails for more than the price of pure gold on any given day.

Frequently Asked Questions...
The value of 1990 US Gold Proof Set?
I have inherited a four coin 1990 US Mint gold proof set (1 oz., 1/2 oz., 1/4 oz., & 1/10 oz.). It is in perfect condition. What would be the approximate value of this?
Answer:
Looking through my numismatic guides,I'd say you'd be giving it away at $2600. The values shown are between $3000 and $3200. In fact on Ebay there is currently one with the bidding at $3150. Can't imagine where the other answerer came up with a price that would leave out the value to a serious collector.
