Does anyone know about a mistake made by the US Mint regarding a quarter?
I recently came across a quarter that was covered in the same gold-colored plating that's used to plate the gold dollars. This is a 2001 edition of a quarter (I'm not sure what state it's for). It's only partially covered with the gold material. There are two silver spots on each side, of about the same size and shape. It also appears as though the coin was misprinted in the press because there's a definate indentation in the coin that does not match up with the rest of the design. The gold plating does not scratch off--it's on there solidly, which is what led me to believe it was not painted on. It's a microthin plate. I'm just curious if any coin buffs know anything about this and where I could have it looked at that they won't take it off of me. Thanks!!

Any reputable coin dealer will tell you if it's real or fake & most will offer to buy it if it's real, Get a couple opinions before you decide to sell, Some will say it's worthless & offer you $1 for it & then a couple months later you hear it sold at Auction for ONE MILLION, Just be careful.
