Gold Proof Set
A collection of different sized but similar gold proof coins are known as a gold proof set. These sets are seen as collectible in the eyes of investors and can increase in value throughout the years. Gold proof coins that are part of the set are likely to come in a case to be displayed. One thing that is important for an investor to know is not to open or take out any proof coins from the display case. Keeping the gold coins in the case will prevent any mishaps like a coin getting scratched; if a coin happens to gets scratched it can diminish the worth of the gold proof set.
Most gold proof sets will commonly come with some kind of certificate to authenticate the collection. It is highly recommended that this important certificate be put away in a safe place if it can't be kept with the protective display case safely. In most cases the proof coins that make up the set will be manufactured in the same year with each other. Also in most cases the proof coins will be in great condition. The gold coins that are part of the proof set are manufactured with a special process to give it a shinier finish. This characteristic is one of the greatest differences between proof and bullion.
One important aspect for an investor to have knowledge of is the fair cost of a set before purchasing. By having knowledge of this it can keep an investor from making the mistake of paying an exorbitant price for a gold proof set. It can also aid an investor when determining if they are receiving a good or a bad deal. Gold proof coin sets are one of multiple ways one can invest in physical gold. By using the information covered here, an investor can and will gain knowledge about investing in gold proof sets. Frequently Asked Questions...
Is it better to get the presidential 1$ coin collection through the Franklin mint, or the US Mint?
I am new to coin colecting and was wondering if the deal through the Franklin mint is actually as good as it sounds or if it is better to just get the coins through the US mint. I have heard that it is best to get proofs. The Franklin mint gold plates the coins (and platinum plates the Kennedy and Reagan dollars).
My parents got me the state quarter colection through the Franklin Mint, and it has a nice display and they are all encased and good quality. But I do not know if the Franklin mint is selling the 'investment grade coins' or if it is better to just go with the US mint and buy the proofs and/or uncirculated coins.
I am most interested in future value.
Answer:
Lol, on your name.
It shouldn't effect future value, and is more about ease of accessiblity, I believe.
